Life Lessons
Note to self: Do not go to the Post Office with a lot of stuff to mail on Tax Day. Two of my Priority Mail packages needed self-addressed stamped envelopes. I needed stamps. I figured, hey, I'll do the self-service thing for stamps, then stand in line to send my Priority Mail. Problem: stamp machine out of order. Okay, I'll go to the self-service mail center (you know, where you can mail packages and buy stamps). Problem: no stamps in the machine. Okay, I'll stand in line, buy stamps, and mail my stuff all at the same time. Problem: Mr. Postman made me buy my stamps, then get BACK in line so I could stamp my SASEs and seal my ALREADY ADDRESSED Priority Mail envelopes. Really? You couldn't wait literally two seconds? I love Tax Day.
The good news? Our birth certificates are on their way to get authenticated by their respective states. Once we get them back, they go into the mail again to the State Department and then to the Chinese consulate. Did we mention that we have to do this with every document that contains a notary's stamp? It's not hard, just time consuming.
